Latitude Collaborative seeks to serve, support and equip children and families in and around the Alton community.
The organization was founded in May of 2017 to be operated for charitable, educational and religious purposes.

Latitude Collaborative is committed to fostering the academic, social, physical and spiritual development of children by establishing a safe and nurturing community where all children are valued.  We motivate, encourage and equip children and their families, so that each individual may be empowered to positively engage with each other and their community.

The purpose of the organization is to provide a variety of educational opportunities for children and their families in the city of Alton in order to develop each individual’s capacity to thrive.  Latitude Collaborative promotes development by utilizing community assets to provide learning experiences that build on each individual’s strengths, address the individual’s diverse needs, and appeal to the individual’s unique interests.

Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.  Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.  Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.  Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality."
Megan Tyler
Executive Director
"Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much"  ~ Helen Keller

Megan is married to Ben Tyler and they have two daughters, Macie (9) and Josie (7), who are homeschooled.  Megan enjoys spending time with her family and loves to travel and explore new places as she teachers her daughters.  She and her family attend The Bridge Church in Alton where she serves on the worship team and is privileged to serve the children of The Bridge, as she directs their yearly Christmas program.  Megan served as a teacher in the Alton School District for 6 years before transitioning to become an Assistant Professor of Education at Greenville College.  At the college, she has served in various roles including Director of Clinical Practice, licensure officer, advisor to elementary education candidates and she has also continually taught both undergraduate and graduate courses focusing on literacy education for the past 8 years.  Megan continues to teach part-time in the undergraduate and graduate program for the college, but more than a year ago sensed that God was leading her back to the Alton community to support local children and their families.  After much prayer and incredible support from her family, friends and many in the community, Latitude Collaborative was birthed.
When discussing her desires for Latitude Collaborative, Megan shares this…
“I am excited for how God is already moving and will continue to move through Latitude.  My desire is for children and families to know true community.  I want us to understand how much we can learn from each other and recognize the need to encourage and support one another.  I want the children of this community to know that they belong, to believe they are valued, to recognize their own strengths and gifts, and to understand that they have much to offer.  I want us to grow to love each other and this community so much that we desire to give of ourselves, not out of obligation, but out of a desire to help, support and bring about positive change.  I hope that Latitude Collaborative can play a small part in helping this community to thrive”.
